Cardinals vs Astros

Chris Duncan delivered a 2-out bases loaded hit to put the Cards up 2-0 in the first inning of the rubber game against the Astros. Cards starter Kyle Lohse failed to strike out a sigle Astros hitter, but was effective nonetheless allowing just a single run in 6+ innings of work. Albert Pujols uncorked his 13th HR of the season to make it 3-0 in the 6th, and that was all the offense the bullpen needed to hold off the Astros as the Cardinals prevailed 3-2.

Cardinals vs Astros

The Cardinals jumped ahead early, thanks to some poor Astros defense and wildness from their starter Wandy Rodriguez. Cards ace Adam Wainwright was dominant, striking out 8 while allowing just 1 run on 3 hits in 8 innings of work. The Cards padded their lead in the 4th and 5th with timely hits from César Izturis and Yadier Molina. Chris Perez pitched a scoreless 9th as the Cards defeated the Astros 6-1.

Cardinals vs Rays

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

The Cardinals recent skid continued against the visiting Rays. Oddly enough starting pitchers Braden Looper and Andy Sonnanstine combined to go 4/5 from the plate, while Albert Pujols failed to reach base for the first time all season. Cards pitching prospect Chris Perez pitched a scoreless 7th in his big league debut, but the bats once again failed to produce with runners on base as the Cards fell to the Rays 3-1.
