Adam Wainwright pitched his way out of trouble early, but got lit up by the Cubs in the 5th. Carlos Zambrano was sharp, carrying a shutout into the 7th before surrendering a meaningless solo shot to Albert Pujols. The win pulls the Cubs record level with the Cards at 10-13.

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

The start of this game was delayed nearly an hour due to rain. Kip Wells had his worst outing of the season, lasting just 4 and 2/3 while allowing 7 earned runs. Alex Gonzalez led the way for the victorious Reds going 4/5 with 2 HR and a double.

Anthony Reyes dug himself into an early 3-0 hole but managed to gut out 5 innings and keep the Cardinals in the game. The bullpen provided 4 innings of headache free relief but the Cards bats were held in check yet again. Albert Pujols went 0-fer including a game ending pop-out with the bases loaded and the Cardinals fell to the Pirates 3-2.
