Cubs vs Cardinals

The Cardinals got home runs from Chris Duncan, Preston Wilson, Gary Bennett, Albert Pujols, Scott Rolen, and Ronnie Belliard as they pounded the Cubs 11-3. Preston Wilson was making his Cardinals debut after signing with the club earlier in the day. This win improved the Cardinals record in Chicago this season to 1-10.

Jeff Suppan kept the Brewers off the scoreboard until the 8th, while Albert Pujols (3 hits) and Juan Encarnacion (3-run HR) led the way with the bats. New Cardinal Jorge Sosa took over for Suppan and got the final 5 outs as the Cards coasted to a 7-1 victory.

2 streaks continued on this hot August night. Chase Utley extended his hitting streak to 34 games, while the Cardinals extended their losing streak to 6 games. It’s not easy rooting for the Cardinals these days.
